Official Rules – The Bohol Life Reset Essay Contest

NO PURCHASE OF ANY PRODUCT OR SERVICE OTHER THAN THE ENTRY FEE FOR THIS SKILL-BASED CONTEST IS REQUIRED. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW. THIS IS A SKILL-BASED ESSAY CONTEST, NOT A RANDOM DRAWING OR GAME OF CHANCE.

1. Sponsor

The Bohol Life Reset Essay Contest (“Contest”) is sponsored by Bohol Coconuts / Coconuts Performance Center (“Sponsor”). Sponsor’s mailing address, email, and official contact details should be listed on the published rules page.

2. Contest Description

The Contest is a skill-based essay competition in which eligible entrants submit an original written essay in response to the official prompt. One winning entry will be selected based on the judging criteria stated in these Official Rules.

3. Entry Period

The Contest begins on April 6, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Central Time (CT) and ends on June 10, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time (“Entry Period”). All entries must be received by Sponsor before the end of the Entry Period.

4. Eligibility

The Contest is open only to natural persons who, at the time of entry:

are at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in their place of residence, whichever is higher;
have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements;
submit a valid entry in accordance with these Official Rules; and
are not residents of any jurisdiction where this Contest is prohibited, restricted, or would require registration, bonding, licensing, or other steps not completed by Sponsor.

Employees, officers, directors, contractors, agents, immediate family members, and household members of Sponsor, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising partners, judges, or agencies involved in administration of the Contest are not eligible to enter.

Sponsor reserves the right to limit, refuse, or disqualify entries from jurisdictions that present legal, tax, regulatory, title-transfer, or prize-award complications.

5. How to Enter

To enter, an eligible entrant must during the Entry Period:

complete the official entry form;
pay the entry fee of $49 USD;
submit one original essay answering the official prompt; and
provide all requested contact and eligibility information.

Official Prompt:
How would owning a Single Suite in Bohol help you create a better life, and why are you the right person to win it?

Suggested essay length is 300 to 500 words.

Limit three (3) entries per person, unless Sponsor expressly states otherwise on the entry page. Multiple identities, aliases, accounts, bots, scripts, or other artifices to obtain additional entries are prohibited.

6. Entry Fee

The entry fee is $49 USD per valid entry. Except where required by applicable law or expressly stated by Sponsor in writing, entry fees are non-refundable. Submission of an entry does not guarantee selection as a finalist or winner.

Entrants are solely responsible for any transaction fees, bank fees, currency conversion costs, taxes, or similar charges associated with entry payment.

7. Entry Requirements

Each essay must:

be the entrant’s original work;
be written primarily by the entrant;
not infringe or violate the rights of any person or entity;
not contain plagiarized, copied, or substantially similar material from third parties;
not contain defamatory, unlawful, obscene, hateful, threatening, abusive, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate content;
not contain false statements or material misrepresentations; and
comply with these Official Rules and all instructions on the entry page.

Sponsor may use plagiarism detection, manual review, identity verification, and other methods to assess authenticity.

8. Judging Criteria

Eligible entries will be judged using the following 100-point scale:

Vision and Clarity – 25 points
Emotional Impact – 20 points
Originality – 20 points
Practical Fit – 20 points
Writing Quality – 15 points

Entries will be reviewed by Sponsor and/or a judging panel selected by Sponsor. The entrant with the highest overall score, subject to verification and compliance with these Official Rules, may be declared the winner.

In the event of a tie, Sponsor may apply one or more tie-breakers, including but not limited to the highest score in Vision and Clarity, followed by Emotional Impact, followed by Originality.

All judging decisions are final and binding.

9. Prize

Subject to verification and these Official Rules, one winner will receive:

one (1) Single Suite at the Eco-Lodge at the Coconuts Performance Center in Bohol, Philippines; and
a 10-Year Revenue Sharing Agreement relating to the awarded suite.

The suite’s approximate stated value is $8,000 USD. This value is Sponsor’s stated reference value only and may not reflect resale value, fair market value in all jurisdictions, tax value, financing value, or cash equivalent value.

10. Revenue Sharing Summary

The prize includes a revenue-sharing structure expected to provide:

60/40 split in favor of the owner when the owner books their own suite to guests or tourists; and
40/60 split in favor of the owner when Bohol Coconuts books the suite to guests or tourists.

The precise rights, obligations, fees, exclusions, operating standards, booking rules, maintenance responsibilities, restrictions, use rights, and payment procedures will be governed exclusively by the final prize documentation and revenue-sharing agreement presented to the winner.

11. Prize Conditions

The prize is subject to all conditions, restrictions, title requirements, transfer requirements, regulatory approvals, legal compliance checks, property documentation, and operational documents required by Sponsor.

Prize conditions may include, without limitation:

identity verification;
execution of affidavits, declarations, releases, tax forms, title documents, acknowledgments, or agreements;
compliance with ownership rules, local property rules, nominee structures, occupancy rules, or similar requirements;
execution of the 10-Year Revenue Sharing Agreement in Sponsor’s required form; and
compliance with any ongoing property-related or program-related rules.

If awarding the exact advertised prize becomes impossible, impracticable, unlawful, commercially unreasonable, or administratively burdensome for any reason, Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to substitute a prize or package of equal or greater value, or to offer a credit, alternative property interest, contract right, or other substantially similar replacement.

12. No Cash Alternative

The prize is not redeemable for cash, except at Sponsor’s sole discretion. No substitution by the winner is permitted, except as may be approved by Sponsor in writing.

13. Taxes and Costs

The Bohol Coconuts Baseball & Softball Club is solely responsible for all federal, state, local, provincial, territorial, foreign, value-added, documentary, transfer, registration, ownership, travel, legal, banking, reporting, and other taxes, fees, charges, and expenses arising from or relating to the prize, receipt of the prize, ownership, use, transfer, occupancy, revenue sharing, or any related benefits.

Sponsor may require tax forms, identification documents, and other compliance materials before awarding the prize.

14. Winner Notification

Potential winner notification will be sent using the contact details provided with the entry. The potential winner must respond within [NUMBER] days of notification, or such other time as Sponsor states in the notification.

If a potential winner:

cannot be contacted;
fails to respond in time;
fails eligibility verification;
fails to sign required documents;
is found to have violated these Official Rules; or
cannot lawfully or practically receive the prize,

Sponsor may disqualify that person and select an alternate winner based on the next-highest scoring eligible entry.

15. Publicity Release

Except where prohibited by law, by entering the Contest, each entrant grants Sponsor the right to use the entrant’s name, city, state/province, country, likeness, voice, biographical details, entry excerpts, and statements regarding the Contest for advertising, trade, publicity, and promotional purposes in any media now known or later developed, worldwide, without additional compensation, permission, or notice.

Winner may be required to participate in reasonable publicity related to the Contest.

16. Intellectual Property and License

Entrant retains copyright in their original essay, subject to the license granted below.

By entering, each entrant grants Sponsor and its designees a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to reproduce, publish, display, adapt, edit, excerpt, distribute, translate, promote, and otherwise use the submitted essay, in whole or in part, in connection with the Contest, winner announcements, marketing, archives, publicity, and related business purposes.

Entrant represents that they have all rights necessary to grant this license.

17. Prohibited Conduct

Sponsor may disqualify any entrant who, in Sponsor’s sole discretion:

violates these Official Rules;
tampers with the entry process;
uses bots, scripts, fake identities, or deceptive practices;
engages in fraud, plagiarism, harassment, or abusive conduct;
makes false statements;
attempts to manipulate judging or administration; or
acts in a manner that harms Sponsor, the Contest, or other entrants.
18. Verification

Sponsor reserves the right to verify any entry, essay authenticity, identity, age, residence, payment status, eligibility, and compliance. Sponsor may request copies of identification, proof of address, sworn statements, or other supporting materials.

19. Limitation of Liability

By entering, each entrant agrees, to the maximum extent permitted by law, to release and hold harmless Sponsor and its owners, affiliates, subsidiaries, officers, directors, employees, contractors, judges, agents, advertising partners, and representatives from any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, costs, or expenses arising out of or related to:

participation in the Contest;
submission of an entry;
acceptance, use, non-use, or misuse of the prize;
property-related issues;
contract-related issues;
travel or relocation decisions;
tax consequences; or
technical, administrative, printing, or human errors.
20. Disclaimer of Warranties

Sponsor makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, regarding the Contest or the prize, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, investment performance, resale value, occupancy rights, tax treatment, or suitability of the prize for any entrant’s personal goals.

All prize components are awarded as is, subject to applicable documents and law.

21. Sponsor’s Right to Modify or Cancel

If the Contest cannot be conducted as planned due to technical failure, fraud, legal issues, force majeure, natural disaster, public health event, war, terrorism, civil unrest, labor dispute, platform disruption, low participation, administrative impossibility, or any cause beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control, Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to suspend, modify, shorten, extend, or cancel the Contest.

Sponsor also reserves the right to correct clerical, typographical, technical, or administrative errors in Contest materials.

22. Disputes

Except where prohibited by law, entrant agrees that:

any disputes shall be resolved individually and not as part of a class action;
remedies are limited to actual out-of-pocket costs associated with entering the Contest, if any, and in no event shall attorneys’ fees, punitive damages, indirect damages, or consequential damages be recoverable against Sponsor to the fullest extent permitted by law; and
Sponsor may designate the governing law and forum in the final published rules.

Governing Law / Venue:
This Contest shall be governed by the laws of [INSERT GOVERNING JURISDICTION], without regard to conflict of laws principles. Venue for disputes shall be [INSERT VENUE], unless otherwise required by applicable law.

23. Privacy

Information collected from entrants will be used for Contest administration, winner notification, eligibility verification, marketing follow-up, and related business purposes, subject to Sponsor’s privacy policy. Sponsor should link its privacy policy on the entry page and rules page.

24. Winner List

To request the name of the winner, send a request to Sponsor at [EMAIL OR MAILING ADDRESS] within [30/60/90] days after the winner is confirmed, where lawful.

25. Entire Rules

These Official Rules, together with the entry form, privacy policy, and any required prize documents, constitute the full agreement regarding the Contest. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.

Important legal note

This is a strong draft, not a substitute for a lawyer reviewing the promotion before launch. Because you are charging entry fees and awarding a real property-related prize with revenue sharing, you should have the final rules reviewed for:

the jurisdictions where you will accept entries,
Philippine property and promotional law issues,
tax treatment,
title/ownership structure,
whether the prize should be awarded directly, through a contract right, or through another legal structure.
